Starting your own business can feel like an uphill struggle at times - we're here to help you with that, and below you'll find some answers to a few common questions:

What is involved with hiring staff?

Registering as an employer with the government, commencing the staff member and putting a contract of employment in place.

How much does it cost to set up a limited company?

The initial Government fee is £100, and then an annual cost of £380 every year after. The set-up costs with us vary depending on your needs, so get in touch and ask us for a quote.

When I set up on my own, should I be a sole trader or a limited company?

This all depends on your earnings. Your accountancy fee will be higher with a limited company, but the national insurance savings will be lower. We can do a personalised calculation to help you decide which route to take.

When do I need I need to register for VAT?

There is a threshold of £85,000 on your turnover. This means if you (for example) build a house for a customer and you quote £100,000 then you are instantly over that threshold on your first invoice, regardless of whether you only make £5,000 profit from it.

How do I keep on top of my income and expenditure?

There are SO many ways! You can have a simple excel spreadsheet or a sophisticated accounting package such as Quickbooks. Drop us a message and we can make a recommendation based on your business.

How much do you charge?

How long is a piece of string! We would need to discuss through your requirements to work out a tailored quote.
